electerm
Electron terminal and remote-access client with local shells, SSH, SFTP, FTP, Telnet, serial, RDP and VNC sessions, split layouts and bookmark sync.
electerm is an open-source terminal and remote-access client built on Electron and xterm.js, licensed under MIT. Besides local shells it opens SSH, SFTP, FTP, Telnet and serial-port sessions, and RDP, VNC and Spice connections for graphical desktops. Desktop builds cover Windows 7 and later, macOS 10.15 and later, and Linux on x64, arm64, riscv64, ppc64le and LoongArch, with separate Android, iOS and HarmonyOS apps and a browser version. It suits people who manage many servers and want terminals, file transfers and remote desktops in one program.
Connections are saved as bookmarks with every common SSH authentication method, including public keys, passwords, the SSH agent, certificates and one-time passwords, plus tunnels, connection hopping and global or per-session proxies. Bookmarks and settings can be synced to a GitHub or Gitee secret gist, WebDAV, a custom server or electerm's own cloud. The SFTP panel works as a file manager, and small remote files can be edited by double-clicking them. Zmodem (rz/sz) and trzsz transfers are supported, and ssh:// and telnet:// deep links open sessions directly.
Settings are edited in the GUI rather than a config file. Terminals can be arranged in preset split layouts (columns, rows or a 2x2 grid), and quick input can be mirrored to one or all terminals. Quick commands and triggers automate repeated tasks, and a global hotkey (Ctrl+2 by default) toggles the window Guake-style. Themes, background images and window transparency (on macOS and Windows) are configurable. An AI assistant that speaks the OpenAI and Anthropic API formats can suggest commands, explain selected output and run terminal operations in agent mode, and an MCP widget exposes electerm to external AI tools.
The terminal loads xterm.js's ligatures addon, and its image addon, which handles Sixel and iTerm2 inline images, can be enabled per session. A WebGL renderer can be selected in place of the default DOM renderer. Besides the release downloads, electerm can be installed with npm i -g electerm, Homebrew, winget, Snap or the project's deb and rpm repositories.
