Nx

Monorepo build system for TypeScript and polyglot codebases with task caching, affected-only runs, plugins, and CI integration including AI-based self-healing.

Nx is a monorepo build system and task runner for TypeScript and polyglot codebases. The core is written in Rust and is extensible through TypeScript. It caches task outputs for work that has not changed and runs only the tasks affected by a given change.

Nx can be added to an existing npm, pnpm, or yarn workspace with npx nx init. It reads the existing package.json scripts, caches their outputs, and runs affected tasks without other changes to the setup. Optional plugins auto-discover tasks, configure cache inputs and outputs, and scaffold code based on the tooling in use. The README lists Vite, Webpack, Jest, Vitest, ESLint, Gradle, Maven, .NET, and Go among the supported technologies.

For CI, Nx connects to providers such as GitHub Actions, GitLab, and Azure. It provides remote caching, task distribution across machines, affected-only runs, and automatic e2e test splitting. A self-healing CI feature runs an AI agent in the pipeline that detects failures, analyzes the root cause, proposes a fix, and verifies it. Local agents can connect to CI over MCP to detect and fix failures. The Nx CLI is also tuned to give autonomous AI agents the context they need.

Typical users are developers and platform or DevOps teams who maintain JavaScript/TypeScript monorepos, or mixed-language repositories, and want faster local builds and CI runs.
